Public participation is an important element in any transportation project planning process. When the public is involved, the transportaton project team(s) become aware of the public's needs and preferences and can bring those viewpoints and values into the decision making process.
The Public Participation Plan (PPP) identifies a proactive public involvement process for the transportation planning efforts and products of the Central Virginia Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). This process includes, but is not limited to, adherence to state and federal regulations regarding public notices and hearings, complete access to information barring any legal constraints, input on key decisions and development and deployment of innovative public involvement strategies.
