The Central Virginia Transportation Improvement Program (CVTIP) is mandated by Federal legislation and is a fiscally-constrained, four-year list of transportation projects programmed for the CVTPO study area. The CVTIP is updated annually, or as needed, and includes projects on the Primary, Urban and Secondary Highway Systems. Other projects included are safety, transportation enhancements and public transportation projects. The CVTIP may also include funding for feasibility studies, preliminary engineering activities and environmental impact studies.

The Central Virginia Transportation Planning Organization (CVTPO) is accepting comments regarding the proposed FY 2027-2030 Central Virginia Transportation Improvement Program (CVTIP). A thirty-day public comment period will begin on Monday, April 20, 2026 and will end on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. A public hearing on these matters will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the CVPDC/CVTPO office located at 828 Main Street, 12 floor, Lynchburg, VA, 24504.
Written comments will be accepted via mail to the following address, or by fax or email indicated below until Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
